Robert Alexander Nobleman, Jr., passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on November 6, 1965, in San Jose, California, and graduated from Palm Springs High School. He attended the University of Georgia, where he became a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, as well as a diehard Bulldogs fan.
Robert began his career at TC Marketing, Inc. at the Atlanta Apparel Market. It was in Atlanta where he met the love of his life, Sally. Robert moved with Sally to Dallas, Texas, where the couple made their family home. There he transitioned to the meat trading business, working at Local & Western of Texas, Inc. He was an exceptional salesman with over 25 years of international protein trading experience worldwide and highly respected in the industry.
Robert was also an accomplished athlete. In the early 1980s, he was a ranked tennis player on the Junior Circuit in California and trained at the prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. As an adult, he stayed active through swimming, pilates, yoga, and spinning. Robert cultivated many hobbies throughout his life; he was passionate about football, fine wines, coffee, cooking, and fashion. Equal parts technophile and amateur chef, he was as enthusiastic about the latest trendy gadget as a fabulous new recipe. He couldn’t wait to share his latest discoveries with friends and family.
His other greatest loves were his two labradors, Ben and Finn. He never missed a day of taking them on their morning walk, always waving and greeting everyone with a smile. Known affectionately as the "Dogfather of Desco Drive,” Robert knew the names of all the neighborhood dogs. He had a unique way of connecting with people as well as animals, lighting up every room he entered (despite a known aversion to crowds). He marched to the beat of his own drum and was adored by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sally, and their two Labrador retrievers, Ben and Finn. He is also survived by his stepmother, Clare Nobleman; sisters Michelle White Henderson and husband Ron, and Blythe Nobleman; nephew Alexander White and partner Travis Adamek; niece Kathryn Gonzales and husband Andrew, and their children Logan, Henry, and Emily; father-in-law Gerry Darver and wife Carol; mother-in-law Jane Gurentz Chance; sister-in-law Paula Darver Miller; niece Amanda Settles and husband Zach, and their children Juniper and Micah; niece Meredith Miller; nephews Grayson Miller and Owen Miller; sister-in-law Maggie Darver; and brother-in-law Jacob Darver and wife Savannah, and their children Jacob Jr., Aubrielle, Landon, and Hadley; along with many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Alexander Nobleman, Sr.; mother, Lasca Barrymore Drew; and loving grandparents, Frank and Marie Nobleman.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at the home of Gerry and Carol Darver, 4230 Woodfin Drive, Dallas, TX, 75220. A formal tribute will take place at 5:45 p.m. Robert's favorite, Mesero, will be served. Casual attire is requested, as Robert believed that was the only way to dress.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s honor to DFW Labrador Rescue (dfwlabrescue.org) or the American Heart Association (heart.org).
