Robert Edward Dudek

Robert Edward Dudek, known to almost everyone as Bob, was born March 6, 1931 in Waco, TX, the son of the late John Dudek and the late Josephine (Snyder) Dudek. He joined beloved departed family members on October 9, 2017 in Dallas, TX. He was raised in Waco, where he graduated from Waco High School, class of 1948.

He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy as a sonar operator on the USS Lofberg (DD-759). He graduated from Texas A&M, College Station, in 1956, with a BBA in Accounting, Business Administration and Management, and was a distinguished student and member of the Veteran's Society, Accounting Society, and Phi Kappa Phi. He worked as a CPA in San Antonio, before settling in Dallas in 1963.

He had lately become a keen player of 42 dominoes, but his lifelong interests included travel, with a fondness for Paris, which inspired him to study the French language and develop a fine cooking ability, as many can attest. He enjoyed Hemingway, and owned copies of all novels by John le Carré, and could provide background on any details portrayed in the spy author’s film adaptations. He was a Third Degree of the Knights of Columbus and for more than 50 years a dedicated parishioner and Eucharistic Minister for St. Monica Catholic Church, Dallas. He was a long-time member of the Town North Family YMCA. But most of all, his family is grateful for his endless devotion to supporting his loved ones and the joy he took in keeping in touch with family news and events.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Julia (Wyrwich) Dudek, his second wife, Sharon (Gilman) Werth Dudek, daughter Suzanne Grace Dudek, brothers Fred Dudek, Raymond Dudek, Eugene Dudek, and Francis Dudek, and sister Rosalie Dudek. He is survived by his sister, Betty (Dudek) Gross, of Wilmington, DE, daughter Virginia Ann Dudek of Dallas, son Robert E. Dudek, Jr., (wife Sharon), of Fort Worth, and step-sons Duncan Scott Werth of Fort Worth, and Howard Christian Werth (wife Holly) of Austin. Grandchildren include Nicholas Werth, Conner Werth, Chloe Werth, Sophie Werth, Robert Edward Dudek, III, Mitchell Douglas Dudek, and Alyssa Ann Dudek. His many nieces and nephews in Texas, Louisiana, California, and Washington State were dear to him and loved their Uncle Bob.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX, 75220. Visitation will be at the Calvary Hill Chapel from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, October 13, with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14 at noon at the Calvary Hill Mausoleum Chapel with committal following at the Calvary Hill Cemetery.
