Richard Marc Moyed (Rich) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Lewis and Joyce Moyed on May 21, 1960. Rich grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania, before attending Hofstra University on Long Island, New York, graduating with a BA in economics. He then attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, obtaining his J.D., Magna Cum Laude, Order of the Coif; he served as an editor for the law review.
Rich began his practice in New Orleans with McGlinchy Stafford, focusing on labor and employment law, a practice he maintained for 33 years. He moved to Dallas in 1989, practicing with the firms of Jones Day and Arter and Hadden, as well as with the Allied Pilots Association and, finally, with the United States Department of Labor.
Rich conquered cancer and a brain aneurysm, returning to practice after each major malady. He was grateful for the skill of his surgeons and the love and support of his family and friends which allowed him to do so.
Rich loved to travel, favoring the beach, just as he had spent many summers with his grandparents in Atlantic City growing up. Rich also loved to ski with his dad and later with his friends in college. He learned at an early age the “gift” of disagreeing, so law was preordained. Rich loved to sail, and would regale you with many of his sailing stories. He loved to cook gourmet meals, especially with his wife, Karole, as they would commandeer the kitchen together. His love of food extended to fine dining wherever he and Karole found it, from Scotland to Jamaica and beyond.
Rich is survived by his wife of 22 years, Karole, daughter Nicole Kaiser and her husband Richard, his beloved grandson, Ashford who brought much joy and laughter to Rich. He also has two “bonus” grandsons, Koda and Kason, who enriched Rich’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of North Texas or The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Graveside Services for Rich will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021, beginning at 2:00 PM inside Hillcrest Memorial Park, in the Mt. Sinai section, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
