Rebecca Marie Hardesty, 79, of Princeton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. She was born on September 24, 1942, in Joplin, Missouri. Becky was a 1960 graduate of Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, California. Becky went on to attend beauty school, and eventually owned and operated Becky’s Beauty Shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
On December 8, 1979, Becky married the love of her life, Edward Callaway. She and Ed enjoyed square dancing and Country Western dancing. Becky enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint and even won awards at the Brazoria County Fair for her needlepoint work. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren beyond belief. Her faith in God was important in her life, and she enjoyed attending church over the years.
Throughout her life, Becky was a fighter, making the best of every situation. She was a lover of life and even at times of adversity, she persevered. Becky was ornery and had a wonderful sense of humor and was always up for fun and laughter. She adored her grandchildren who called her “Nanny”. She will be remembered for her zest for life and ability to make the most of everyday. Becky will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Edward M Callaway in 1992; and beloved dog, Hawk. She is survived by her three children, Brad, Steve, and Cheryl, grandchildren; Rebekah, Jacob, Ryan and Alex, great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brittni, Braelynn, and Jerid; and two sisters, Madonna Waller and Sue Beals.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10am at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org/donate.
