Dear Family and Friends of Ray:
    I am writing because I saw Ray’s name in the current issue of ALPA magazine. 
    I had the privilege of flying with Ray in the L1011 when I was a flight engineer at Delta. 
    Ray was soft spoken and dedicated, a true professional at the top of his game. Ray was one of those pilots you wanted to emulate. No doubt he influenced many of us.  The last time I saw Ray was a few years ago when we bumped into each other at the Home Depot in Frisco. I really miss him but am confident he is with the Lord. Thank God for him. 

I remember Ray as a true and honest gentleman , He always was glad to see you with a big smile and greeting. I had the pleasure of flying with him several times and was always impressed with his professionalism and skill . You knew he loved flying . Friend and comrade you will be missed. 

My thoughts and prayers are with you Penny, Mark, and Julie. I have so many good memories of you all, and you have always, and will always reside in my heart. While she still could, Mother always kept me abreast of the milestones in your lives, where you were living, and what you were up too. She was my internet, I guess.

In my mind, I can still see Ray, in a beige turtleneck, with that big warm smile, and a gleam in his eye, telling one of his stories about flying.

I have many fond memories from childhood spent with Ray and his lovely family. As God Parents to my sister Terri I got to see Ray and Penny’s love in action. He was a kind and loving man. 

Dear Penny,
I know that you and your family will miss Ray more than anyone,but his fellow NAVCAD 34-55 Classmates will never forget him as one of the best in the class and life in the Marine Corps.

A salute to Ray on his final flight west. Condolence to Penny and family.  We were friends in our early days in New Orleans, many good memories.
 Julie, though we don't know each other, this message is for you: I remember Ray telling me of the day he drove you to, wherever it was, to begin your college career. On his way back alone he shed a tear, realizing that a chapter in both of your lives had irretrievably ended. Let your sorrow be tempered by knowing you picked a great dad.

It’s been a while since I saw Ray and Piper, but they were regulars of the Frisco dog park. I enjoyed seeing them and they were often accompanied by other members of his family. Ray will be missed. He was a kind-hearted soul. RIP.

I was so sorry to hear your father passed away. I am sorry I never met your dad, he was an amazing man.

We haven’t known Ray very long but we met at the dog park and so enjoyed his company.  We also enjoyed going to Rockfish for dinner with Ray and Penny. Ray had a great sense of humor and we loved his stories of flying. He will be  dearly missed. 

If Ray wasn't one of the best NAVCADS in our class of 34-55 he was right up near the top of the 60 who were in there with him, believe me!

Very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. We were close friends and neighbors with Ray and Penny for many years having been next door neighbors at the Chanticleer Apartments in Dallas for several years during the beginning of our careers with Delta Air Lines. Ray and Penny were Godparents for our youngest daughter, Teresa, at her Baptism fifty one years ago. My deepest condolences and God's Best Blessings to Penny, Mark and Julie and all their families.

A great friend. Flew many times with Ray at Delta, the Marine Corps and in his small aircraft. An excellent pilot and a good guy. My family knew him well. Have a great trip West Ray.

Ray was one of the best captains that I flew with on the 727.  Cool, calm, capable, confident.  

Dear Penny and Family,
Ray and I shared the 8/5/1963 class of new hires at Delta.  That was the beginning of a long and lasting friendship.  Our paths crossed many times during those years.  I believe your daughter was (or is) a United flight attendant.  My daughter is still active as a
Delta flight attendant. 
 
We shared so much that wasn't even apparent at the time.  He will be missed! May God give you and yours peace and comfort at this trying time.  I know Ray is in a much better place.

Dear Penny & Family, 
Ray has been a friend since 1963.  We met at Delta's reception desk for "new hires."   A memorable day!
It turned out that our seniority   was determined by our check-in time which also determined that Ray & I had classroom seats next to each other, for the 2 plus months of ground school.  So. . . I know first hand of Ray's friendship and sterling character through the years.   Tops in my book!  We'll miss him.
