Raymond K. Burns

Raymond Kenneth Burns of Dallas passed away April 16, 2019 at the age of 91 with his devoted wife, Barbara Carty Burns by his side. He was born December 12, 1927 to Dorothy L. and Bryan A. Burns.

Raymond was affectionately known as “Ray” and as a young man enjoyed Boy Scouts and ROTC at Woodrow Wilson High School where he graduated in 1946. Shortly after graduation, he served in the Army, 3rd Armored Division in the European Theatre of Operations and was stationed in Korea from 1946 to 1949.

He was a devoted, quiet, gentle and hard-working family man that loved animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Lura Winn and Bryan Anthony Burns; and his brothers, Bryan Anthony Burns, Jr.

and Malcolm Charles Burns.

Raymond K. Burns is survived by his son, Ty Randall Burns of Heath, TX, daughter, Darla Burns Strange McCrary of Winchester, VA, son, David E. Mullins of Dallas, son, Kenneth R. Mullins of Rowlett, TX, son, Kevin D. Burns of Dallas, daughter, Lisa L. Burns Johnson of Helena, MT and daughter, Tina Alpers Stensrud of Bozeman, MT. Surviving grandchildren are Rachelle Harvey, Aleah Burns Fielden, Larina Strange Jones, Elizabeth McCrary, Matt Mullins, Kelly Mullins, Alicia Burns, Neil Ramos, Lanna Burns, Kevin D. Burns, Jr., Raymond C. Burns, Nicholas Burns, Nicole Larsen, Sarah Larsen, Trice Alpers, Marki Dykema and Travis Alpers. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Makala Harvey, Addison Harvey, Jakob Harvey, Scarlett Fielden, Harrison Fielden, Grant Jones, Allison Jones, Brady Jones, Jonathan Jones, Peyton Johnson, Hadley Dykema, Hayden Dykema and Taylor Dykema.

Ray will be remembered as a loving, kind and generous man with a sweet sense of humor. Often finding humor in the simplest of things. He was a wonderful role model for is children, grandchildren and great-children.

His life will be celebrated with a Visitation on Tuesday, April 23rd from 5-8pm and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 24th at 2pm, both at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
