.Philip Henry Myers was the third child born to Clarence Edward and Beulah Whitmore Myers of Berkley County West Virginia, on September 17, 1923. His childhood on the family dairy farm ended when he enlisted in WWII. Philip returned to the states with his bride, Simone Marie Reis, of Liege, Belgium. His military career spanned three decades and included three wars – WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He graduated from The University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor’s degree in Military Science. After retiring from the Army in 1974 at the rank of full Colonel, Phil enjoyed retail management with Sanger Harris Dept. Stores and Hillcrest Office Products, before settling into a second career with The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church, a community volunteer, and his friends remember him as having a great sense of humor. His advice for life was, “Attitude determines altitude!” and “Keep your powder dry, and when you fire, fire for effect!”Phil never remarried after losing Simone in 1970.
