Philip was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India on February 13th, 1966, to Solomon Raj and Mary Pushpam. He graduated from St. Britto Higher Secondary School and continued to receive a degree in Mathematics and a post graduate diploma in Computer Applications from Madurai Kamaraj University. Philip was married to Jeyanthini Maria on May 3rd, 1993; they were married for 31 years.
Philip Maria worked as a software engineer at Bank of America for 25 years. He assisted his wife in real estate for the last seven years. He enjoyed meditation, yoga, movies, camping, biking, and kayaking. He was also actively involved in Dallas Tamil Catholics(former President), Bay Area Tamil Catholics(founder), and Worldwide Marriage Encounters.
Philip is preceded in death by Solomon Raj, Mary Pushpam, and Bruno Michael. Philip is survived by Jeyanthini Maria, Jephina Maria (daughter), Emmanuel Maria (son), Nicholas Jesu Anthony (brother), Arockia Lawrence (brother), nieces and nephews Alan, Anita, Sharon, Crisi, and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 4PM December 20th at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9AM December 21st at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Chinnappan officiating. Committal will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 12PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Philip Maria’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family of Philip Maria wishes a very, very special thank you to Mr. Raj Maxwell of Moscow, Russia, the US Embassy in Moscow, Mr. Ivan Sadikov, Mr. Justin Pravin Britto, Mr. Amit Fernandez, Mr. Firmin Dani, Mr. Anbarasan Irudayaraj, Mrs. Nancy John, and Mrs. Jane Marshal for bringing our late husband and father home for his funeral rites and burial.
