Patricia Diane Alonzo was born May 27, 1943 in Panola County (Carthage), Texas to the parentage of Calvin Woods Sr. and Tessie Rae Adams. She was raised in Panola County in a large family with her father, mother, and 9 siblings. She attended school in her hometown, and graduated from Turner High School, Class of 1960. She also attended Bishop College, a Historical Black College, in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after high school, she united in Holy Matrimony for 26 years to the father of her 4 children, Clarence Alonzo Jr.
Patricia accepted Christ at an early age. Under the pastorship of her late father, Reverend Calvin Woods Sr, she was affiliated with the Christ Holy Sanctified Church. During her marriage to Clarence Alonzo Jr, she rededicated her life to Christ and became an active member of Holy Temple Church under the pastorate of Bishop W. T. Smith. Eventually, she and her husband accepted the call to a higher capacity in ministry where she served under the clergyman, Pastor Clarence Alonzo Sr. Throughout the duration of her life, she has maintained a steadfast relationship with God and served as a faithful believer and giver in the church.
Patricia was an extremely hard-working woman who was dedicated to financially providing for her family. For more than 30 years, she worked for the federal government in the Department of Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS). She was a Financial Specialist. After her. Retirement in 2004, she accepted a position with one of DFAS contractors, Raytheon. Eventually, she retired from Raytheon and enjoyed the pleasure of life after retirement.
During her leisure time, Patricia enjoyed watching CNN and MSNBC news. She also found pleasure in reading about current events. If weather permitted, she liked to spend time in her yard planting and caring for her gardens. Most of all, she loved to travel and spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Wayne Alonzo Sr., 8 siblings, Warren Woods, Erastus Woods, T.W. Woods, Calvin Woods, Dames L. Woods, Joe Vell Walls, Josephine McClendon, and Bobbie Hodge, parents, Calvin and Tessie Woods, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 daughters, all of Dallas, Texas, Michelle Alonzo Smith, Rachel(Edward) Williams, and Leslie Alonzo; 7 grandchildren, Tessie Diane Smith (Dallas, Texas), Justin Ray Jones (Phoenix, Arizona), Marco (Keisha) Alonzo (Coppell, Texas), Tony Wayne (Angelina) Alonzo Jr. (Alexandria, Louisiana), Patrick Alonzo (Austin, Texas), Leia Nicole Alonzo (Arlington, Texas), and Serey Wilson (Dallas, Texas); 3 great-grandchildren, Avelina, Aiven, and Autumn Alonzo (Alexandria, Louisiana); one brother, Reginald(Francis) Woods (Waxahachie, Texas) and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
