Born on August 05, 1927 in Dallas, Texas and passed away on Friday December 16, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband Raul Garcia Perez; parents Feliciano Morales and Petra Veloz Morales; brothers; Pete Morales, Augustine Morales, Antonio Morales; and sister Consuelo Miller. She is survived by her sisters; Mary Gonzalez, Carmen Garcia, Socorro Medrano, Stella Rios and Aurora Rodriguez; and sons; Raul Perez (Anna), Rodrigo Perez (Sylvia), Humberto Perez (Nikita), Ruben Perez (Brenda); 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.
Nieves was supportive and dedicated to her parents and family. After the passing of her beloved husband Raul she raised 4 young boys. She took pride in her work and social service throughout the years.
She was a loving, caring, and giving person who enjoyed helping others.
Nieves was a Catholic woman of Faith. In her early years she was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Oak Cliff. In later years she contributed service to Catholic Charities “The Brady Center”. She was an active attending member for 50 plus years. When retirement came, she continued to visit the center daily. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Mexican Loteria, she was always a winner. For many years she kept up with the news by reading the daily newspaper. She liked watching TV shows and listening to music. Her favorite pastime was Word Search, she could stay busy for hours. At the age of 95 during the Christmas holiday, Nieves was making homemade Tamales, a family tradition she loved. She openly shared the recipe with her daughter-in-law Brenda, it was history from there on.
Nieves was an active walker and a daily rider on the DART Bus to Downtown Dallas. Nieves worked at “The Patio” at One Main Place for many years and later moved with the owners to “The Renaissance Cafe” in Downtown Dallas. Nieves was also employed at “Passman and Jones, PC” Law Firm at the Renaissance Tower, where she retired.
Nieves enjoyed family and celebrated her 96th birthday this year with a big party. She always appreciated everyone in attendance.
Nieves would always ask you “Como Estas” (How are you) her concern was always you.
