Miguel “Michael” De La Cruz was born in Mexico City, Mexico September of 1966 to Maria Luisa and Antonio De La Cruz. He then moved to Dallas, TX in 1970, when he was only four years old. A tragic loss for him happened in 1981 when he lost his mother. While attending Thomas Jefferson High School he had to work due to that loss but was also able to participate as a member of the ROTC. He met his wife Janie in April 1986 who actually lived on the same street. He then went on to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1986. While they were dating, he lost in father in the fall of 1986. They dated 17 months before finding out they were pregnant with their first son, Paul, who was born in June of 1988. They were then married at the Justice of the Peace on September 20, 1990. A few years later they had their second son, Arnold, who was born in August of 1993. Several years later he lost his older brother, and his closest friend, José “Pepe” De La Cruz in 1999. In April of 2000 they decided to be remarried (renew their vows) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLP) in Dallas, TX. They purchased their first home in April 2004 where Mike passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 19, 2021. Mike was a loving, hardworking, selfless and dedicated father, husband, and friend. He treasured his children and wife who looked at him as their Superman and embraced every moment they had together. He had a vivacious personality and always made people around him laugh. He told long entertaining stories, quoted movies better than anyone you’d ever meet and would give everything to help anyone in need. You could always find him watching the Dallas Cowboys (His favorite football team), Club América (his favorite fútbol club), or any other sports teams his sons enjoyed watching.
Miguel was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, and Brother. He is survived by and will always be the loving and devoted father of Paul, Arnold and Rocky “Panchito” De La Cruz, Cherished husband of Janie De La Cruz, Loving and selfless bonus dad (father in love) of Samantha Tillman & Keira Garcia. He is also survived by his half-brother Antonio “Tony” De La Cruz, half-sister Becky Perez, many nieces, nephews, and friends that were more like family than actual friends.
