Mavis Kathryn Adams Fielding, age 85, passed away on November 16, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on January 13, 1939, in Snow, Arkansas. Mavis was a cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends.
Mavis is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, John Clifford Fielding, and their three children, Valerie Fielding-Parkey of Dallas, TX, Kenneth Fielding of Lowell, AR and Jason Fielding (Kendra Fielding, spouse) of Bentonville, AR. Mavis was a beloved grandmother to Karrah Parkey-Gagnon (Garry Gagnon MD, spouse), Matthew Parkey, Amanda Fielding, Jayden Fielding and Macey Fielding. Her joy was further multiplied by her three great-grandchildren, Emily, Jack and Caroline Gagnon.
Mavis’ life started in the rural hills of Pyatt, Arkansas in the late 1930’s. She grew up a pastor’s daughter in a family of six siblings. She had a deep relationship with Jesus Christ from the very beginning and gave of her time and devotion throughout her life to church clubs and groups for children. In her lifetime she attended and completed hundreds of bible study classes. She was vivacious and had a bright and colorful personality and always had a warm smile and a welcoming heart. Mavis and Cliff had a multitude of friends that gathered often for Christian fellowship, with singing and praising the Lord. Her infectious laughter and her uncanny vocabulary brought joy to everyone around her. She had a profound love for playing card games, memorizing Bible verses and playing songs on the piano. Even in difficult times, she always maintained a positive attitude and encouraged others to do the same. As a loving grandmother she was a great storyteller and cherished her grandchildren immensely. She was one of a kind and will be remembered for her zest for life, unwavering faith, and immense love for others.
Services to honor and celebrate her life will be conducted at two locations. The first service will take place at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas on Wednesday November 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm. The second service, followed by a graveside service and burial, will be held at Hedden Chapel Church, 3740 Grant County Road, Grapevine, Arkansas on Saturday November 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
