At the age of eleven, Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized at First Christian Church of Sulphur Springs, Texas, where during her high school and early college years she taught the kindergarten Sunday School class.
It was on a field trip to the skating rink with one of those Sunday School classes that she met Ronny Wright, who was also taking a Sunday School class on a field trip. They fell in love and were married on May 13, 1961 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. They soon moved to the metroplex and settled in Mesquite, where they raised their family. The two served as treasurers at Casa View Christian Church for several years, then became members at Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas.
Mary was very involved in PTA during her children’s school years. She was a homemaker, and loved baking. She found much joy in baking and decorating Christmas cookies with her children, then later with her grandchildren. Those same children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She loved attending their sporting events, dance recitals, school programs, and anything else those kids were involved in, including Grandparents Day at their elementary school.
She also loved nature and working in the yard, always finding something to plant or trim. That brought her so much peace and satisfaction. She also loved watching and listening to the birds.
Mary Lynn, aka Grammy, will be greatly missed by her family. Her passing has left a huge hole in all their hearts.
