Frances Gieb Thomas, 87, was born in Dallas, Texas on April 26, 1929 to Willis Gieb and Edith Smith Gieb. She married the love of her life and North Dallas High School sweetheart, Rex Grady Thomas, on October 4, 1947 with whom she was married to for 60 years. She entered into rest on September 6, 2016 in Harlingen, Texas where she has resided since 1972. She, along with her daughter, Diane Dickey, began a successful business in fashion of women's clothing, "The Bird Nest", from 1976 to 1995. Her life was fulfilled as an entrepreneur, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by everyone she met in life, loved to travel and never met a stranger. Her presence and smile filled every room with joy and laughter. Frances, along with her husband, Rex, were devoted parishioners at St. Anthony's in Harlingen, Texas. She will be greatly missed by all those whose heart she touched.
She is survived by her brother, Hal Gieb (Corine); daughter, Diane Thomas Dickey (Paul); sons Keith (Andra), Richard, Tim (Sally); grandchildren, Charlotte Thomas Martin, Chris Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Trey Dickey, Heather Dickey McMinn, Alex Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Tiffany Thomas Canada, Trace Thomas, Jake Thomas; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Blane & Caelyn Thomas, Austin, Zachary, Maren & Rexton McMinn, Hunter & Lane Canada, Addison & Taegan Dickey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wills and Edith Gieb; husband, Rex Thomas; eldest son, David Thomas; sister, Betty Griffin and brother, Bill Gieb.
The Thomas Family invites you to remember and celebrate the life of Frances. The Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5PM to 9PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2PM in the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Cemetery. The Committal will beheld at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
