Maggie Katherine Marsh

Maggie “Dut” Hill Marsh was born on October 30, 1925, in Pittsburg, Texas, to the late Hardy Hill and Mattie Ross Hill. She was the youngest of three siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Hill; and sister, Mellie Marie Shelton. At a young age, Maggie accepted Christ at North Avenue Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. She graduated from Douglass High School in 1943, where she served her class as Vice-President and was voted Most Popular Girl. After graduation, she attended Tyler Barber College in Tyler, Texas. While visiting Dallas, Texas, at the young age of 7, Maggie met her future husband of 65 years, the late Timothy Marsh, Sr. Timothy was a career soldier. They traveled and lived in several countries and states. After retiring from the Army, Maggie and Tim moved to Dallas, where they made their home. Maggie began to work at Texas Instruments for over 20 years, and upon retirement, she traveled extensively with her friends and her granddaughter, Brenda. Maggie loved her children and her family. She had a deep love for her sister, Mellie, who she affectionately called her “Mrs. Parkie.” Her favorite saying was, “Don’t scorn the girl that’s down today but cheer her in her sorrow because this old world is a cruel world and you may be down tomorrow.” She was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the Senior Choir, worked with the Women’s Ministry, and attended faithfully until her health failed. On September 18, 2015, God saw a need for another angel and he called Maggie Marsh home. Awaiting her was her loving husband of 65 years, Timothy, who went ahead to prepare a place for her. She leaves to mourn her passing, her four children, Stephanie Ann Marsh (Roosevelt) of Moreno Valley, California, Timothy Marsh, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Gregory Allen Marsh of Dallas, Texas, and John Fitzgerald Marsh (Toni) of Marshall, Texas; along with a special son, John (Dot) Harris; three grandchildren, Brenda Gale Flores (David), Zavonee Kelley Marsh, and Nalani Kelley Marsh; great-grandchildren, Ashley Flores, Brooklyn Flores and Zavaee Marsh; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
