Lyndon (Lyn) Bruce Fly, 75, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born on November 29, 1948, in San Angelo, Texas, to the late Bruce Lee & Joy LaDean (Martin) Fly. Lyn was a 1966 graduate of San Angelo Central High School, studied accounting and computer science at Angelo State University earning a BBA Degree. He continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin and was a life member of Texas Exes. He spent his career in taxation and accounting, beginning in Austin for Touche Ross and continuing his career at various companies and accounting firms over the years. Lyn truly relished working at Corptax, Inc., as a Senior Support Specialist where he worked for the past nine years.
Lyn met his future wife and soulmate, Alice Swirczynski, while attending Angelo State. After twenty years apart, he reconnected with her, and they married in 1991. They truly cherished each other and had a love that people searched a lifetime for. Lyn was raised by his parents in the Baptist church, and he carried his faith in his heart. He always made time when visiting family in San Angelo to attend church services with his mother and sister. Although Lyn and Alice were of different church denominations, they prayed together and supported each other in their beliefs, in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lyn loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest. He was personable and never met a stranger. He was kind and generous and always ready to help others. He had many hobbies and loved sharing his hobbies with anyone who was interested. Music of all kinds was a part of his daily life, in particular the music of country and native Texas artists. He was a huge Jimmy Buffet fan and enjoyed attending his concerts and those of other performers. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing, whether it was fresh water or offshore fishing, and he was a member of various fishing clubs, including The International Game Fish Association. He qualified for and became a certified observer for IGFA fishing tournaments. The most memorable tournament he participated in took place offshore in Venezuela. He organized countless fishing trips with his friends and loved teaching anyone, especially children, how to fish. Lyn was an avid hunter and cherished the times hunting with his dad, brother, nephew and friends. He had a love for horse racing and in his earlier years spent time at the racetracks in Texas and New Mexico where he made close friends with trainers and jockeys. Formula 1 racing was a special interest to Lyn and when the F1 track in Austin opened, he was able to attend the races firsthand on several occasions. His love for cars ran deep and culminated when he obtained his dream car, a 2018 Corvette Z06. Lyn was a devoted Texas Longhorn fan in all respects, liking all UT sports and being the football team’s biggest cheerleader. With all his interests and hobbies, he was full in. Researching, reading about, and participating in, when possible were part of each one.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Edward Fly. Lyn is survived by his wife, Alice; sister, Dianna; nephew, Brad Fly and wife Mercyla and their children, Abbie McIntire (Weston), Amory, and Kemper; and sister-in-law, Jody Fly & family.
Lyn’s journey on this earth is over but now he is in the presence of his Lord forever. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
