The first of two children, Linda was born on April 8, 1946 to Douglas and Mildred Cullen, in Dallas, Texas. Linda became a Christian and was baptized at the age of 12 years old. On the morning of January 16, 2021, with her husband by her side, she went to be with her Lord and Savior. As everyone knows, she was an amazing wife, mother, aunt, and Nana, and a friend to many.
She met her first love, Luther J Hatley, at the young age of 13 and he, the young age of 17. Luther left to serve in the Army at the age of 18 and while stationed in Germany, they remained friends and pen pals. Upon his return they resumed dating, and on August 1, 1964 they were married.
Rhonda, by a previous marriage, was 18 mos old when they married. And on November 18th, 1968 they were blessed with another baby girl. Rhonda and Becky brought so much joy to her life and blessed their parents with five beautiful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, which were the apple of her eye.
Linda, without a doubt, loved the Lord. She spent the last few years walking with Him and exhibiting the true nature of faith, courage and strength. She was very involved with her church and her Sunday School and even with health challenges, found a way to attend or watch services on-line. Her faith and trust in God never wavered. She turned to Him in joy, sadness, and happiness; she gave thanks to Him daily for everything he had provided.
For approximately 45 years she worked in the accounting field, later in years with NAPA and ultimately retired from Interstate Batteries in 2012. Her favorite driver of all time was #18, Bobby Labonte and her desk was adorned with his posters, cups, etc… And win or lose, she was a big fan of the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. Spending time with her family was both a priority and a privilege. She always looked to the opportunity for big gatherings. Her favorite past time included watching her favorite soap operas and game shows on TV.
Linda is preceded in death by parents Douglas and Mildred Cullen, grandparents Walter & Velma Baker and Albert & Lillie Mae Cullen, sister Catherine J. Martin and infant granddaughter Brooke Elizabeth Armijo, as well as several aunts, uncles and two cousins.
Remaining to honor her memory are her loving husband of 56 years Luther J Hatley, daughter & son-in-law Becky & David Armijo, daughter Rhonda Foster, as well as her five grandchildren, Patrick Armijo and wife Samantha, Shane Hudson, US Army SPC Mason Armijo, Cassidy Hudson, and Ashlin Armijo, and three great-grandchildren, Sophia Hudson, Luca Armijo and Zeke Hudson.
