Linda Buck Alexander, age 60, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2013 in her home in Dallas, with her family by her side. Her final words, “I’m the lucky one,” displayed not only her amazing strength, but stand as proof that even though she spent the last 15 years of her life battling cancer, it was she who could claim victory when she finally stood before the Lord. Linda was born August 16, 1952, in Dallas to Rupert Wilson and Opal Wade Buck. She attended Dallas Christian Academy and spent a short time at North Texas State University. She carried her faith in Christ with her through her many joys and trials, and her faith carried her through her final journey. Linda had so many friends it would have taken a second lifetime to count them all. She loved them all dearly, and it was always her nature to put their needs ahead of her own. Linda brought two wonderful children, her daughter Jennifer Lee Rosenburg and spouse Daniel and her son Dwight Douglas Riggle Jr., with her into her marriage to the love of her life, C. Hilton Alexander. From that December day in 1985 until her last, they were as inseparable as two hearts ever were. Linda is also survived by her sisters, Mary Clay of Colorado Springs and Carolyn Sue Kelly of Richardson; two grandchildren, Robert Murphy and Jack Alexander Cahill; and her beloved toy poodle, Frasier. She attended Prestonwood Baptist Church – Dallas campus, Twentieth Century Book Club, the Fellowship of Professional Women, was a volunteer sign language instructor for deaf children at the Stonewall Jackson school and was a proud member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Linda enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, jewelry making and reading the Bible. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Prestonwood Baptist Church – Dallas campus. In lieu of flowers, Linda and Hi request that friends and family make donations to the American Cancer Society. For more information, please visit www.sparkman-hillcrest.com.
