January 21, 1924 — November 26, 2022
Lila Mae (Mork) Johnson, 98, passed away on November 26, 2022, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Lila was born in Kenyon, Minnesota, on January 21, 1924, to the late Rolf and Mathilda (Musgjerd) Mork. She was raised in Minnesota but spent most of her life in Texas. Lila enjoyed cooking, baking, playing bingo, reading, and watching sports. She was thrilled when the Texas Rangers featured her DoppleRanger at Globe Life Field and her picture and fan story on their official website in 2020.
Lila was a kind, loving, and gentle soul with a strong and determined Norwegian spirit. She loved her family more than anything and was devoted to her four sons, adored her many pets, and spoiled her grandchildren. She treasured the many friendships she formed over the years, especially her friends from Our Savior Lutheran Church, Country Club Bingo, and the staff and residents at Town East Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where she lived the past six years.
In addition to her parents, Lila was predeceased by her husband, Ruben "Duby" Johnson, and her three siblings, Irene Larson, Mabel Gates, and Cliff Mork. She is survived by her four loving sons, Craig and his ex-wife Rosemarie, Mark, Scott, and Kim and his wife, Candy; three grandchildren, Tom and his ex-wife Belinda, Kristie and her husband, Kevin, and John Paul and his wife, Amy; great-grandchildren Madelyn, Taylor and her husband, Riley, Claire and Cade and their mother, Susan, and Anne, Miranda, Jackson, and Jonathan; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would like to thank Pastor Schelter and his wife, Lois, for praying, singing hymns, and bringing comfort and peace to Lila in her final earthly hour. She took her last breath with family by her side in a room full of love, grace, and faith in God's heavenly promise.
Visitation and Lila's funeral service will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, December 4. The funeral service is at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, followed by the burial at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Lila loved animals. At her request, please consider donating to your local SPCA, Humane Society, animal shelter, or any organization that helps our furry friends in lieu of flowers.
