Lawrence Bradley Camp left us to be with the Lord on May 30, 2023 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in 1937 at Old Saint Paul’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Lawrence Bradley and Thelma Louise Stapleton Camp. He attended Holy Trinity, Christ the King, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help schools, Jesuit High School, and he graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas. He was a 1960 graduate of The University of Oklahoma.
Brad was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community. He used his time, talent, and treasure to further God’s Kingdom here on earth. Brad made an everlasting difference to many, many people. His amazing legacy will live on by his impact on countless children in the Catholic community.
Among Brad’s numerous accomplishments, in 1965, he and S. Foster Yancey, Jr. formed Yancey-Camp Construction Co., which built homes, commercial property and developed subdivisions across the North Texas area. He was a Real Estate broker and an officer at Oak Cliff Savings, Exchange Savings, Wentwood Companies, President of Dallas Builders Association, and a Senior Life Director with the National Association of Home Builders. He was a partner in the Dallas Cowboys, Dr. Pepper and 7-Up, Chairman of Crestone Development, Ltd., a partner of Savvy Distilling Co., founder of Carrollton 1st National Bank, and Founder and Director at Windsor Savings. He also served in the Air Force Reserve.
Brad was an elected Life Member of the Keepers of the Quaich, Edinburgh, Scotland, a National Officer of the Chaine de Rotisseurs, a member of Testavin, and President of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School Advisory Council. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a Trustee of the Catholic Foundation, a member of the Serra Club of Metro Dallas, and a member of the Knights of Malta.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara, two sons, Lawrence Bradley Camp III (Ragen Allsbrooks), and Robert Yancey Camp (Britney), and two grandsons, Robert Yancey Camp II and Charles Hayne Camp, sisters Rita Beck (Ted) and Marian Camp, numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family members, and many close friends.
The viewing will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, June 5th at 6pm, followed by a Vigil service at 6:30pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated for Brad on Tuesday, June 6th at 1pm at Christ the King Catholic Church.
