Kathie was born in Spencer, Iowa on April 7, 1950 to Richard Monroe and Helen Blanche Coolidge.
Growing up in Omaha, NE, Kathie graduated from Central High School and attended The University of Wyoming before meeting her husband Donald Andrew Carter who was serving in the Air Force at Offutt AFB in 1970. The Carters then moved to Dallas and subsequently set their roots in Richardson for the past 43 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Elaine Coolidge. She is survived by her husband Donald of 51 years and their son COL(ret.) Andrew T Carter, his wife Rebecca and grandchildren Abigail and William of Orange, CA. Also survived by brother John and his wife Teri, sisters, Elizabeth Gauthier, Mary Ellen Brooks and her husband Larry, Anne Gerken and her husband John, numerous nieces and nephews and 5 godchildren, John and Caitlin Ammann, Eric and Lesa Neff, and Eileen Gerken.
Kathie was a talented and loving person who could light up the room with her presence. She shared her love of life unconditionally to all who knew her. Children were special to Kathie and they responded in kind. She will be sorely missed.
Memorial service to be held at the Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Rd, Richardson, TX 75080 at 9:30am on Friday, July 30, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations will be designated towards a Program for Continuing Education (PCE) grant for women in her name. Memorial checks may be sent payable to P.E.O. Foundation, 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312 in memory of Kathryn Carter.
