It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Conway Duffy McCracken, who departed from this world on May 1, 2023, in Forney, Texas. Kathleen, fondly known as Kay, was born on June 25, 1924, in St. Helen's, England. She was the daughter of the late John Forshaw and Mary Conway Duffy. Kay was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Kay is survived by her son, Leonard McCracken, and her daughter, Pamela Kay Donnell. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was a devoted family woman who cherished her time spent with loved ones.
Kay moved to the United States in 1946 at the age of 22. She traveled by ship to start a new life in a new country. Shortly after her arrival, she married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she resided on Moler St for 76 years. She retired from LTV after working for 35 years. Her dedication to her job was a testament to her work ethic and commitment to providing for her family.
Kay was an active member of the Cockrell Hill Baptist Church for over 70 years. She found comfort and support in her faith and the community of the church. She was also the Secretary of the DBE English Club for 43 years. Her commitment to the club and her community was a reflection of her generous and giving nature.
Kay had a passion for travel and loved exploring different parts of the world. She traveled to Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and even returned to England every other year. Her adventurous spirit and love for travel were a testament to her curiosity and zest for life.
