Judy was born in El Paso, TX on August 26, 1943. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and continued to receive an Associate’s Degree from Los Angeles City College. Judy was married to Robert D. Howard on Sept. 9, 1961 and they were married for 28 years.
During her marriage Judy worked tirelessly to support Bob in his role as a minister in the United Methodist Church at their postings in various congregations in California and Hawaii. She particularly enjoyed their time in Hawaii immersing in the culture of the islands. After Bob’s death, Judy returned to her native Texas living and working in Austin and later in Dallas. She served as an official Fairy Godmother bringing joy to those she interacted with. Judy was also an aspiring writer and loved dancing the Texas Two-Step. She enjoyed traveling and visited England with the Red Hat Society.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Ferris Gay, her husband, Bob Howard and her brother Bob Gay.
Judy is survived by partner of 20 years, Stan Basse, her children, Brian Howard (Beth) Mark Howard (Shannon), Christopher Howard, four grand-children, and siblings Steve Gay and Christy Gay (JJ).
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on July, 20 2024. at Grove Hill followed by dinner at Manny’s Mexican Restaurant in Dallas.
