Jose R Reyes

Jose Ramirez Reyes was born in Terrell, Texas and passed away peacefully at the age of 89, in his home surrounded by loved ones, in the early morning of June 12. He married Carmen Herrera in 1955, sharing 67 years of marriage. The couple had four children. He retired from the city of Dallas after twenty years of service in Street Operations.

In his spare time Jose enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a joyous, loving and caring person that made everyone feel loved and important. He spread laughter and cheer wherever he went with his playful teasing, joke telling and an all-around good nature and mood. He enjoyed playing dominoes, drinking a cold one and reminiscing about old times.

He was an exceptional man who had a special gift that made anyone who entered his home feel immediately welcomed. He dedicated his life to his family, working hard to provide for his wife and children. He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving, caring spouse, and the best father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend any person would be proud to call their own.

His generosity knew no bounds and he would give to anyone in need no matter if it meant he would go without.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Reyes; brothers. Santos Reyes, Alfonso Reyes, Anastacio Reyes, and Apolinar Reyes.

He is survived by the love of his life, his beautiful wife and lover of 67 years, Carmen Reyes; children, L. Reyes, Jose Reyes, Victor Reyes and his wife, Jani Reyes; his only daughter, Rose Rivas and her husband, Danny Rivas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sauceda and her husband, Robert Sauceda, Jennifer Davila and her husband, Thomas Davila, Natalie Reyes, Jonathon Reyes and his wife, Fabiola Rodriguez Reyes, Daniel Rivas, Andrew Rivas; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and brothers, Lorenzo Reyes and Angel Reyes.

Jose was a great man, truly loved by all. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts by all those whose lives he touched.

A visitation for Jose will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A rosary will occur Monday, June 19, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. An interment will occur Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 0980 - Calvary Hill North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.
