John was born on December 26,1921 in Lehigh, Oklahoma to Mauro and Calixta Torres. They came to Texas in 1953.
John had 6 brothers and 5 sisters all whom are all deceased and survived by 1 brother, Juan Torres who presently resides in Austin, Texas. John also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
John Torres is survived by his wife Laura Grace Hetherington Torres, and 3 children: Marlena Torres Morandi, Juan Arturo Torres and Arturo Raul Torres. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.
John is a Veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II and Korean War.
John realized at a young age that he could accomplish about anything he put his mind to. He self-taught himself auto paint and body, welding and began to work in body shops. He bought a body shop and opened his own business, while he worked for others and kept learning more and more skills. As he grew older, he eventually expanded his business to include several locations. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and the pride he took in always doing a great job and keeping his customers very satisfied. His attention to detail was AMAZING!!!!! – he expanded his business to include some rental houses also.
His interests included family, gardening, home repair, repairing and refinishing automobiles. He devoted a lot of this time to his pheasants and other collections of birds and their housing at this home.
Condolences may be sent to Laura Torres, 8274 Barbaree Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
