John Joseph Horan Sr. was born in New York City on October 16, 1918 and died June 8, 2012 in Dallas, Texas, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
He is the son of Amanda Winfield Horan and John W. Horan of New York. He was educated at Manhattan Prep and Manhattan College. He served his country for 4 years in WWII as a Sergeant in the Army and was in both the European and Pacific theaters.
He built South & Western, a successful company which his son now owns and operates.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Lorraine, and his 3 children; Stacie Horan Lilly, Amanda Horan Kennedy, son-in-law Bruce Kennedy, son JJ Horan, Jr. and dog Charlie.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday June 15, 2012 at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Rd. Dallas TX 75254.
In lieu of flowers, the Horan family requests contributions be made in the name of John Horan to The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
