John Leddy Hollingsworth Jr.

Dr. Hollingsworth was born on July 9, 1941, in Corsicana, Texas, to Dr. John Leddy Hollingsworth, Sr., DDS, and Catherine Slagle Hollingsworth.

He graduated from Corsicana High School, where he was actively involved in a variety of athletic and scholastic activities. John attended Arlington State College for undergraduate studies, and then Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Linda Kasparek.

John and Linda were married in Needville, Texas, and the very next day he enlisted in the Navy, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant Commander stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Dr. Hollingsworth then opened his private practice, specializing in Internal Medicine for 42 years, predominantly at Medical City Hospital Dallas and Baylor Hospital Dallas. In his later years, he found great joy in attending to patients at multiple different nursing facilities.

John’s siblings remember him as the “brainiac” of the family, a man who excelled in his studies and chosen profession despite struggling with dyslexia. He loved listening to country music, grilling, and drinking beer while watching the Dallas Cowboys.

John had a witty, sometimes unusual, and always clever sense of humor, and he enjoyed spending time keeping busy reading and tinkering in the garage. He adored sharing banter with others regarding his love of history, Sci Fi, the German language, politics, and basically any other topic you could throw his way.

John was well loved by all who had the privilege of meeting him.

John is survived by his wife, Linda Kasparek Hollingsworth, of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Heather Hollingsworth of Dallas, Texas, Beth Ontiveros and husband John of Manvel, Texas, and Jennifer Harris and husband Robin, of Cedar Park, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Richardson, Luke and Abby Ontiveros, and Graysen, Rory, and Greer Harris; brother, William Hollingsworth and wife Gloria; brother, Jack Hollingsworth and wife Becky; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Dr. Hollingsworth is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Williams, and nephews, Charles Williams II and John Eskind Hollingsworth.

The family’s fervent wish is that all those choosing to attend John’s visitation and/or burial wear a mask to protect themselves from the Covid-19 virus, which took their beloved husband and father far too soon.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be much appreciated in the name of Dr. John Hollingsworth, Jr., MD, to any Parkinson’s research foundation.

A visitation with reception will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, located at 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas 75252.

A burial service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
