Joe Lou Randle

Joe L. Randle, born in Okolona, Arkansas on August 7, 1925, to Gusta and Gossett Randle. After a courageous battle with cancer, Joe passed away on May 11, 2010, in The Woodlands, TX. Joe attended public school in Okolona, Arkansas and attended Hendrix College and Louisiana Tech. He received his Bachelor Degree from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, was an Honor Graduate from SMU Law School class of 1949 and his Master’s Degree of Law from Harvard Law School, class of 1950. In 1943, Joe served his country in the Navy for three years during World War II, entered the service as enlisted man then later promoted to an Officer at the rank of Ensign. He practiced law in Beaumont and Dallas, specializing in Probate, Employment Discrimination Law and Labor Arbitration Cases. Joe taught Labor Law at SMU at night for 4 years. He retired from AT&T (SW Bell) in 1989 after 35 years of employment as General Attorney for Texas. Joe was especially proud of being a member of the State Bar for 50 years. Preceded in death by his mother Gusta Randle, father Gossett Randle, and brother Ralph Randle. Survived by his wife Dorothy Randle of The Woodlands, TX; son John Randle and his wife Kay of Richardson; daughter Carolyn Snyder of Rowlett; step-son Steve Morris and his wife Connie of Texas City; step-daughter Kathy Buys of Pasadena; and 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Joe’s fondest memories are of he and Dorothy’s extensive travels throughout the world, his volunteer work with The Salvation Army and Zale Lipshy Hospital in Dallas. Joe was a member of Heritage Church in Richardson. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am, Rev. Morris Sheets of Heritage Church will officiate. Private family interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Jollay, Bryan Buys, Ken Morris, Keith Morris, Cary Avant and Steve Snyder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe’s name to The Salvation Army.
