Dr. Jimmy Kien-teh Lu

May 26, 1937- August 20, 2021

Dr. Jimmy Kien-Teh Lu of Frisco, Texas passed away on August 20, 2021. Dr. Lu was born in Shanghai China on May 26, 1937. His family moved to Hong Kong in 1949, where he graduated high school from LaSalle College in 1958. Dr. Lu then came to the United States to attend East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, TX. In 1959 he transferred to Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Lu studied there from 1959-1961 before being accepted to the Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1965. Upon graduation Dr. Lu moved to Dallas, TX, where he did his rotating internship and the general surgery residency at Methodist Hospital of Dallas. At completion of his residency, Dr. Lu established his own private practice on July 1,1967. He was a caring and compassionate physician who served the Southern Dallas medical community. Dr. Lu was instrumental in the development of the family practice residency program at Charlton Methodist Hospital and served as Chairman of the Department of Family Practice for several terms. Dr. Lu served on staff of Dallas Methodist and Charlton Methodist Hospitals for 49 years, until his retirement in 2016.

Dr. Lu was preceded in death by his mother Lu Shu Wun and his father Lu Yung Chee, his brother David Lu and his sister Hui Fun Lu Hsu. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra of 55 years, his daughter Monica Lu, his son Jimmy K. Lu Jr. and his wife Kari and their children Piper and Porter, his son Jason Lu and his children Andrew and Charlotte and his daughter Stephanie Lu Graff and her husband Tom and their children Skylar and Dagny. His sister Josephine Chen, his sister Irene Lee, his sister Sally Law, his brother Samuel Lu, his sister Maureen Lu and their families.

Dr. Lu was loved by his family, friends and patients and all are welcome to join us to celebrate the life of Dr. Jimmy K. Lu.

A visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021, from 6 pm to 8 pm and the funeral service will be held Saturday, August 28, at 11:00 am, at Sparkman-Hillcrest, 7405 West Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX, 75225. A reception will immediately follow the service. For those who cannot attend, the funeral service will be live streamed.
