Jessica Lynn Garrett

Jessica Lynn Garrett, 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was born on July 20, 1947, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to the late Thomas & Maxine (Mackey) Story. Jessica grew up in Alex, Oklahoma and was a 1965 graduate of Alex High School. Her fondest memories were the many family trips she made to California and visiting relatives; it was those trips that created a life-long love for traveling and big-city living.

Jessica earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University. She enjoyed a long career as a social worker, truly making a difference in others’ lives.

Jessica enjoyed interior design, skiing, tennis, reading but, most of all, traveling. She relished the opportunities to visit Europe, New York, and California and even spent time living in California, Colorado, Kansas, and Texas over the years. Jessica was an outgoing and sociable person who cherished time spent with family and friends. The busier her social calendar was, the happier Jessica was. She was kind, caring and no one was a stranger to her. Her faith and love for life was steadfast. She attended Highland Park United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed being a part of the New Beginnings Sunday School Class. Jessica was a devoted mother, wife and companion, whose legacy will live on through the unconditional love she shared with those around her.

In addition to her parents, Jessica was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Garrett; and mother-in-law, Effie Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Billy Garrett of Lewisville, Texas; cherished companion, Clark Storms of Plano, Texas; and beloved cat, Dakota.

A memorial service for Jessica will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75205. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grief Program at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75205.
