We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jeff. He passed away peacefully on August 5, 2021 at William P. Clements Hospital at UT Southwestern Medical Center after undergoing brain surgery for an unusually large aneurysm. He received extraordinary care from the physicians, nurses, and all other staff during his extended stay in the neurological center of Clements.
Jeff was born in Dallas on February 13, 1974. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School, Forest Meadow Junior High School and Lake Highlands High School where he graduated in 1992. He then attended Southern Methodist University (SMU), and graduated with a BBA in Marketing in the Edwin L. Cox School of Business in 1996. Jeff joined the FIJI fraternity while at SMU and developed some extraordinary friendships there.
Jeff worked for several companies including IBM, Winning Habits, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Ryan, LLC and others. He also engaged in contract work in between working for Chesapeake and Ryan. When he left Ryan, he co-founded BarScot, a licensing company, shortly before his passing.
Jeff was an avid golfer and a member of the Dallas Athletic Club, along with several of his best friends. He took his children there often where they loved golfing and swimming. He played dozens of golf courses in Texas and Oklahoma, and was often on golf outings with his buddies. Jeff was an outgoing, friendly, and caring person. He was athletic, powerfully built and, according to one of his aunts, Hollywood handsome. He was also quite the handyman; he could fix anything.
Jeff was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Frances Barry (Gramma B), maternal grandmother, Ann Phillips (GG), maternal grandfather, Arthur Phillips (Pop), aunt, Kimberly Godke and uncle, John Barry.
He is survived by his children, Lucas Thomas Barry, Blake Hodges Barry and Ashley Ryan Barry, his father, Dr. Thomas E. Barry, mother, Kathleen E. Barry, sister, Kelly Anne Galloway, niece, Audrey Layne Galloway, nephew, Brady Thomas Galloway, brother-in-law, Jason Michal Galloway, aunts, Cathy Morton, Judy Smith, Peggy Barry, uncles Jim Morton, Milton Smith, Doug Godke, cousins, Darren, Christopher, Patrick and Jonathan Morton, Erin Amann, Kevin Barry, Sarah Welliver, Matthew Smith, Steven and Ryan Godke, and scores of friends. Jeff will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all his family and friends.
