Jane was born on October 20, 1921, to Effie Mae and Harry Bruce Hixon in El Paso, but the family soon moved back to Dallas where Jane grew up, attended school, married, and raised her own family. Jane met David E. Box, Jr. at Highland Baptist Church where they married during WWII and were together until his death in 2009. Their lives were centered in Dallas through residence, church, employment, and various organizations through the years. Jane and David were faithful members of Park Cities Baptist Church for many years.
Jane was gifted with a beautiful singing voice, the love of flower arranging and gardening, and she was also an accomplished painter in both oils and watercolors.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, her husband David, and her granddaughter Kristin Day. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Day and Peggy Box, son-in-law Richard Day and grandson Travis Day and wife Veronica. Jane is also survived by her sister Betty Pogue, sister-in-law Alma Box and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to offer appreciation and love to all those at Hillwood who provided skilled and gentle care and to those with Compass Hospice who multiplied that love and care during her final weeks.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, from 2 pm to 4 pm. A graveside service will be Monday, February 19 at 1 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Dr. Rev. Jack Martin officiating.
