Jamie Elaine Rodriguez

Jamie Elaine Rodriguez, of Dallas, Texas, passed away before sunrise on December 31, 2022. She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully transitioned and ended her two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 37.

Jamie was born on September 29, 1985, the eldest child to Dale and Robbie Tijerina, and sibling to Travis and Natalie. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. Jamie married Andrew Rodriguez on December 16, 2006. In 2014, they welcomed their first child, Olivia Grace, and then expanded their family again in 2019 when Maddox Lorenzo made them a family of four. Jamie's love for her family was warm and gentle; it will always guide Andrew, Olivia, and Enzo.

Jamie graduated from the prestigious School for the Talented and Gifted. After being offered academic scholarships to 3 colleges, she ultimately accepted an offer from The University of Texas at Dallas. After completing her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration on Public Relations, Jamie entered the workforce, but soon realized she wasn’t done studying. She came back to the University of Texas at Dallas to perform graduate studies and received a Master’s Certificate in Education in 2010.

Loved ones know Jamie for her grace, humble intellect, and selflessness. She was always one to quietly observe until her moment of a punchy one-liner that would have everyone laughing. She enjoyed camping at state parks with her family, reading best-selling books, and solving puzzles. Jamie balanced her sense of humor with sophistication, and embraced the beauty of life through an appreciation of traveling, music, and art. Jamie never passed a penny on the ground without picking it up.

Jamie is survived by her husband Andrew Rodriguez and two children, Olivia Grace and Maddox Lorenzo; her grandmother, Gerald (Gerry) Dean Williamson; her parents, Dale and Robbie Tijerina and her sister, Natalie Elizabeth Tijerina. Jamie is preceded in death by her grandfather, Dean J. Williamson, grandfather, Pablo A. Tijerina, grandmother, Francis Sanchez Tijerina, and brother, Travis Keith Tijerina.

In Jamie’s valiant battle with cancer, she also became loyal to the larger purpose of advocacy and awareness of cancer prevention for other women. In lieu of flowers, it was Jamie’s wish that donations be made to Mammogram Poster Girls, a small grass-roots charity managed by local women in Dallas and supporting local women in Dallas
