James Richard Kellogg was born Sept. 22, 1933 in McGehee, AR and passed away October 7, 2012 in Dallas, TX. James served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Yorktown. During his service he earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. James was an Assistant Scout Master for over 10 years for Boy Scout Troop 719, and a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. He was a devout choir member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas for over 40 years. James was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered at the Audelia Road Library. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Bunny” Kellogg; father, James Benedict Kellogg; nephew, Keith Silva, and daughter-in-law, Linda Kellogg. James is survived by his mother, Cecilia Kellogg of Mtn. Home, AR; children, James S. Kellogg (Dana Harris) of Plano, TX, Therese Kellogg of Dallas, TX, Richard Kellogg of Denison, TX, and Bea Kellogg Dorsett (Steve Dorsett) of Dallas, TX; granddaughters, Victoria Kellogg of Allen, TX and Anissa Collier of Waco, TX; great grandchildren, Jorge Sepulveda, James Tucker and Sydnee Luckenbaugh; sister, Ann Silva (Mickey Silva) of Mtn. Home, AR; nephew, Alan Silva; niece, Christine Roschli and many other nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited 7pm, Monday, October 15, 2012 and the Funeral Mass will be 10am, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, both at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas 75238. Inurnment will follow at DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Attn: Traditional Choir, 9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas 75238.
