James Walter Cecil

James Walter Cecil of Garland, Texas passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born on November 15, 1931 in Bunkie Louisiana, and is survived by his wife Jackie Cecil, two children: his son Jim Cecil Jr. and his wife Connie Cecil and daughter Cindy Mcanear and husband Eddie Mcanear. James is also survived by his sister Rosemary Deruytter and husband Dennis Deruytter, Grandkids Justin Mcillillin, Lea Lilley and Addison Cecil, with great-grandson Steven Jr. Lilley. He was a graduate of Bunkie High School and Southwestern Louisiana Institute. After graduating with a BS degree in Business Administration, he worked for US Gypsum in Chicago Illinois, and then retired. James entered the United States Air Force on January 1, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had an honorable discharge after serving for 4 years in January of 1956, with the rank of Airman First Class, and after serving during the Korean War. His honors were of Good Conduct and National Defense. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10AM at St. Pius X Catholic Parish. James will be laid to rest immediately following the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery at 11:30AM.
