Jacqueline Yvette Leeks was a shining light of love, strength, and resilience. Born on April 15, 1956, to T.D. and Edna Leeks in Monroe, Louisiana, her journey began surrounded by the warmth and guidance of her parents. When the family relocated to Dallas, Texas, Jacqueline blossomed into an extraordinary woman whose kindness and faith touched everyone around her. Today, we celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Jacqueline’s academic journey started at Robert L. Thornton Elementary School. She then attended Sarah Zumwalt Middle School and achieved her educational milestone by graduating from David W. Carter High School in 1974.
In 1978, Jacqueline experienced one of her greatest blessings: the birth of her one and only child, Shanika DeShun (Leeks) Bereal. She poured her love and energy into her role as a devoted mother, a role that brought her immense joy and purpose.
Jacqueline excelled in the field of data entry, showcasing her exceptional skills at various companies throughout the Dallas Metroplex including Veterans Affairs Hospital VAMC Dallas. Beyond her professional achievements, she lived a vibrant life filled with her favorite activities: singing, dancing, playfully fussing at loved ones, and frequent trips to Oklahoma (if you know, you know).
Jacqueline’s personality was a big, bright light, endearing her to everyone who crossed her path. Her warmth, humor, and generosity made her truly unforgettable. Having accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in her twenties, Jacqueline remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life, leaving family and friends with peace in knowing she is now with Him.
A woman of deep faith and dedication, Jacqueline loved, loved—and we mean loved—her church, Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a staff member for years and was actively involved in multiple ministries, touching countless lives with her commitment to service and her radiant spirit.
