Jack was the son of George Hickman Rosser and Doris Brunner Rosser. George Rosser, along with his partner, Bill Meyers, founded the Meyers and Rosser Pharmacies in 1935. At one point it was the largest locally owned prescription-only pharmacy chain in Dallas. Jack spent many of his early years working alongside his father, in both the retail pharmacy and pharmaceutical laboratory facets of the business.
Jack leaves behind two sisters, Dianne Young of Plano, Texas and Dolores Marek of Clifton, Texas. He is survived by three sons and two daughters. Those are Jack (Jay) Edward Rosser, Jr. and wife Monica; George Hickman Kent and wife Terri; Jeff Rosser and wife Cindy; Dawn Rosser Bower and husband David; and Dyan Rosser Hiner. Other survivors include his former wife and very dear friend, Darla Rosser, with whom he shared eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Jack was preceded in death by his grandsons, Brian Dean Ball and Kent Edward Rosser. Jack also sadly leaves behind his best friend, his beloved Doberman, Fritz.
Jack grew up in Dallas, attending Texas Country Day (now St. Marks), Westminster Preparatory School in Simsbury, Connecticut, and is a very proud graduate of Highland Park High School. He also attended The University of Texas at Austin. (Hook ‘em Horns!)
Jack was the true definition of an entrepreneur, and was a success in every venture. After his years with Meyers and Rosser Pharmacies and Owen Laboratories, his career path spanned from the Dallas nightclub industry to becoming a licensed peace officer, and in his later years, as a successful litigation support business owner. He was admired and greatly respected in each endeavor, as a leader and a mentor to many.
Jack’s greatest joys in life were spending time with his kids and their families, riding one of his many Harley Davidson motorcycles, and enjoying a good cigar on the front porch, soaking in the sun. His kind heart, giving spirit, and unmistakable laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Viewing will be Monday, August 22, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas. Memorial service will be held in the main chapel Tuesday, August 23 at 2:00pm, followed by a public reception and private family interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Jack's memory to the North Texas Doberman Rescue, 2021 Rock Creek Drive, Grand Prairie, Tx., 75050, or to a charity of your choice.
