For many years, Jack Moore stood at the door welcoming and ushering worshippers into the house the Lord. He was a faithful usher at Carver Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas; a position he fulfilled with joy and dedication.
Jack Roland Moore was the first of two children born to Roland and Geneva Moore. His earthly journey began on January 27, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. He and his sister Joan enjoyed growing up in Dallas and attending the public schools there. They later relocated to San Francisco, California where their education was completed.
While in Dallas, Jack met and married Winnell Craig in June, 1948 and one son, James Carl Moore was born to this union.
Early in life Jack developed a love for the culinary arts, a profession he acquired and proficiently fulfilled throughout life. His grandmother encouraged his interest in food preparation and is quoted to have said, “Jack has been cooking since he was five years old.” This passion for cooking spanned more than 75 years as he generously shared delicious foods and recipes with enthusiastic family and friends. Customers also expressed their joy while partaking of his delectable dishes served at major restaurant and catering establishments where he was employed in both Dallas and San Francisco areas.
Jack was predeceased by both parents, Roland and Geneva Moore; his son, James Moore, Sr.; a grandson, James Moore, Jr., and his beloved sister, Joan Moore Brown.
Although his place at the door of Carver Heights Baptist Church will be vacant, and his chair at the family table will be empty, his memories will always be revered by his two grandchildren, Eric Moore and Kimberly Moore; ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; two nephews, Richard Brown and Michael Brown; two godsons, Carlton Moore of Dallas, TX and Billy Craig of Los Angeles, CA; two daughter-in-laws, Rosemary Moore and Mae Moore; family members, the Carver Heights Church family and many friends and co-workers.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Moore family.
