Henry Aloysius Hammann, beloved Opa, dad, brother, husband, uncle and friend to so many, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2018 from an aortic aneurysm. He never had the intention of leaving us in a well-preserved body, rather he wanted to skid out on two wheels, thoroughly used up, shouting out, “That’s It! What a fun ride!”
Henry’s life motto, Einfach Leben, “Live Everyday” is something that he truly lived by. His gregarious laugh, gorgeous smile, no fear, adventure-loving, sarcastic off-color comments, and sheer love for life will be missed by his loved ones every single day. While our sailor left us way too soon, we are comforted in knowing that he went on his terms and his spirit is sailing free in his happy place riding the waves, smelling the salty ocean air, and flying free into the wind soaking up the rays. Sail on, sailor! Prost!
Henry is survived by daughter Nicole and son-in-law Jeremy, grandchildren Ella and Abe, son Peter, wife Amanda, sister Brigitte and the Ruberg family in Germany (Gunter, Stefanie and husband Christian, Michael, Romina and several nieces and nephews), and countless extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be announced soon to party one last time with Henry!
In lieu of flowers, donations to his favorite charities can be made in his name to: The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center (https://www.bridgenorthtexas.org/give) or Café Momentum (http://cafemomentum.org)
