Grace was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa on January 6, 1936. She was the daughter of Fred and Mildred Lehman. She was raised on the family farm in Thompson, Iowa.
She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Roger Dalton, on September 16, 1956. They were happily married for 63 years.
She worked as a secretary in banking and the insurance industry before beginning a family. The family lived in Mason City, Iowa until her husband was transferred to Dallas, Texas. There she managed an apartment complex for many years. After her children were grown, she worked at Brookhaven College as a department assistant.
She loved to cook and bake and was known for making homemade cinnamon rolls and bread with a cherished family recipe. At Christmas and Valentine’s Day, she made beautifully iced homemade sugar cookies.
She enjoyed working on counted cross-stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, and crewel embroidery pictures and projects. Every Christmas she faithfully completed sequined calendars for her children’s homes and her own home. They serve as a beautiful reminder of her patience and skill when working on needlework projects.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Dalton of Carrollton, Texas and her son, Jeffrey Dalton of Dallas, Texas. Numerous friends and relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Randy Dalton, and brother, Albin.
