Gordon Ivan Goldstein

Gordon Ivan Goldstein, 84, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 19th. He was born and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee. He spent his high school years in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School. He returned to East Tennessee to attend college and medical school. After three years of college, he entered the University of Tennessee Medical School, where he received his M.D. in 1960. While attending medical school, Gordon met the love of his life, Roslyn Stein. After only two weeks he proposed, but she refused to marry him for a full year. They returned to Dallas in 1960 for his residency in Anesthesiology. From 1963-1965, he was stationed in Newport, RI, where he served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps. In 1965, he and Roslyn returned to Dallas with their family and he started his private medical practice.

Gordon was a respected member of the medical community, serving as the Chair of the Department of Anesthesia and as a member of the Medical Board at Presbyterian Hospital, and as the chairman of Dallas Anesthesia Associates. When he retired at the age of 62, he had been in practice for 35 years.

In his retirement, Gordon took up many hobbies. He loved fly fishing, hunting, photography, painting and biking. He and Roslyn enjoyed traveling the world together. In the later years of his retirement, he spent his time as a docent at the George W. Bush Presidential Library.

Gordon is survived by his wife of sixty years, Roslyn, to whom he was a kind and loving spouse. He was an amazing father to his three daughters and their husbands, Beth and Larry Konig, Lisa and Mark Zale, Barbra and Bud Applebaum. He is also survived by his true loves, his grandchildren: Blake (Natalie), Robert (Allison), Meredith (Mark), Margot, Brian, Adam, Marcy and Seth. He is also survived by his shining light, his new great-grandson, Mason Zale.
