Geraldine Booth Petty

Gerry Petty passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 13. Her children, Ray and Jan reached Dallas from Lawrence, KS and Olympia, WA on July 12th and along with Doug, Dallas, were all able to say goodbye before she went to her Maker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Carl R. Petty, who died in September of 2009. Gerry and Carl were longtime members of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she was a member and leader in the church choir and he was an usher and preschool Sunday school teacher.

Gerry’s immediate family includes children Ray and wife Lynette, Doug and wife Alecia, and Jan and husband Rex Richardson. Grandchildren include Ray and Lynette’s daughter Risa Kearn, and Doug and Alecia’s daughters Paige Harwell and Jenna Petty. Paige’s husband Matt Harwell and Risa’s husband Keenan Kearn add to the family and finally, a great-grandson, Liam Austin Kearn.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 20th at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Arrangements are with Sparkman-Hillcrest.

The Petty family thanks the caring professionals at Emeritus, Vitas Hospice, CareStaf, and especially Pattie Childs for the wonderful, attentive assistance provided to Gerry these last 3 years.
