Devoted husband, father, son, and brother; loyal friend; child of God. George Edward Seay, Jr. was born on July 22, 1941, in Dallas, Texas to loving parents George Edward Seay and Mary Saville Seay. A natural athlete, George excelled in multiple sports at Thomas Jefferson High School and was a scholarship football player at UT Austin where he joined Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He graduated from UT with a BBA degree and, after completing the Air Force Reserve Program, George attended SMU Law School and received his JD degree. He and Nancy Clements married in 1965, welcomed a son and namesake in 1967, and spent 1968 in London, England, on a legal fellowship with the solicitors firm Trower, Still, and Keeling. Back in Dallas a daughter, Pauline, arrived in 1969, completing their family. George then joined the law firm of Touchstone, Bernays, and Johnston where he worked before becoming a sole practitioner specializing in business and estate law. In the early 70s, George and Nancy bought Ute Trail Ranch near Lake City, Colorado, and served as camp directors of Ute Trail Boys Camp for five summers. George continued his legal career and coached youth sports teams in Dallas during the school year. He coached twenty-eight different teams throughout his lifetime, positively impacting the lives of all he coached. In 1993, George repurchased Ute Trail from interim owners and established a Christian camp on the property. The development and expansion of the camp occupied George’s time and devotion for the next twenty years. In partnership with Sky Ranch, Ute Trail became the site of a Christian ministry to families, teens, backpackers, and church youth groups, which fulfilled George’s hopes for the use of the property. George especially enjoyed the blessings of his family, attending all his grandchildren’s activities. He and Nancy hosted a yearly summer camp for their grandchildren in Fredericksburg, Texas, where they had daily devotionals, softball tournaments, and theme nights. His grandchildren will always cherish these special memories. George had a close-knit group of lifelong friends that enjoyed taking trips together. For many years, they travelled to the Colorado mountains and to watch baseball spring training in Florida and Arizona. He attended Highland Park Presbyterian Church his entire life, where he served as Elder. A humble and kind-hearted man, George led by example and gained the admiration of all who knew him. He was a force for good in the lives of so many – family, friends, and all those he coached, employed and mentored. The echoes of his life will resonate for years to come. George is survived by his wife of fifty years, Nancy, son George Seay III and his wife Gretchen, daughter Pauline and her husband Austin Neuhoff, grandchildren Margaret, George, and Lizzy Seay; Charlotte, Nancy, Bennett, and Elise Neuhoff; James, Vincenzo, and Marina Guandolo; a brother John Seay and wife Judy, a sister, Edith Jacobie, and many relatives in the Seay and Saville families. A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Sky Ranch at Ute Trail, 600 N. Pearl Street, Suite 640, LB 148, Dallas, Texas 75201.
