Gemma Gianna Perpetua Smith entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 7:10 pm. She had been born just 28 hours previous on Friday, January 31st at 2:30 pm. At the time of her passing, Gemma was surrounded by her family who sang to her and prayed.
Gemma is the daughter of Andrew & Jacquelyn Smith of Dallas and is survived by her siblings Cecilia, Felicity, Lucy, Cyprian, Abraham and Henry. Gemma joins three other siblings who were lost through miscarriage.
The impact of her short life on earth was vast. Thousands participated in prayer campaigns and novena prayers dedicated to Gemma and all babies diagnosed with Trisomy 18.
Now her impact will be even greater. Since Gemma received the sacraments of the Church (Baptism, Communion, Chrismation and Annointing) she can now intercede from Heaven for her family as a Saint.
A Visitation (w/Rosary) will take place on Wednesday, February 12th at Christ the King Chapel on the campus of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity (4500 West Davis, Dallas) at 6:00 pm. Rosary will start at 7:30 pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday, February 13th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood, Dallas at 10:00 am followed by a reception and burial at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3525 Lombardy, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Be Not Afraid, a national perinatal hospice organization who were of immense assistance to Gemma and her family during the entirety of her life. www.benotafraid.net.
