Dr. Forrest C. Brown passed away July 26, 2021. He was 81 years old. He was born February 25, 1940, in Denton, Texas, to Walter Travis and Estelle Lattner Brown. Dr. Brown grew up in Denton, attended North Texas State University before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. After completing medical school at UT Southwestern, he entered the Navy, eventually reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Dr. Brown lived and worked around the world during his time in the Navy and afterwards working as a Naval medical officer and dermatologist in Japan, San Diego, Panama, Oahu and Honolulu. In 1980, he returned to Texas to begin his own private dermatology practice at Medical City Dallas, which focused on Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Brown was a long-time member and chalice bearer at St. Michael and All Angels Church, enjoyed serving on the boards of the Lattner Family Foundation, Dallas Academy,and as a member of the Order of St. John.
He is survived by his son, Forrest Brown, of Tucson, Arizona; his daughter, Virginia Brown Barry and son-in-law Michael Barry of Seattle, Washington; and one granddaughter, Grace Barry.
Burial will occur at Sparkman-Hillcrest on Monday, August 2nd, followed by a memorial service at 3pm in the chapel at St. Michael and All Angels Church. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Priory in the USA of the Order of St. John to fund the St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital.
