Elizabeth Vivian “Evie” Carter, age 6 years, died on September 14, 2023 at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas after a brief illness. Evie was born April 25, 2017 to Justin Varley Carter and Jennifer Olivier Carter in Dallas, Texas.
Evie was smart, inquisitive, full of energy, could light up any room with her presence and made everyone smile and laugh. Though small in stature, she had already set her sights to grow up “big and strong”. Evie loved science and creating things, with her sights set on inventing a shrink ray, having several prototypes already in the works. Evie had a love for learning and was a first grader at St. Monica Catholic School of Dallas where she was surrounded by friends and teachers whom she cherished dearly. She enjoyed activities such as dance, tennis, being part of the Sparkman Gator swim team and the Bearcat soccer team, where Evie had a signature arm flex if she scored a goal. Evie was rarely seen in regular clothes, but rather in costumes to fit the occasion, be it a fancy princess dress, a favorite movie character, ballet tutus or a science lab coat. Her ambitions were only surpassed by her huge heart and her love for her family, especially her best friend and sister Ellison and her nightly “snuggles” with Mom and Dad.
Evie is survived by her parents, Justin and Jennifer Carter, and her sister, Ellison of Dallas; her grandmother, Elizabeth Olivier of Round Rock; grandparents, Jack and Joan Carter of Texarkana and great-grandmother, Genevieve Fontenot of Friendswood. Also surviving Evie are her are her aunts and uncles, Shelly and Ross Mikosh, Sondra and Mike Crain, and Clay and Michelle Carter; and cousins, Nathaniel Mikosh, Luke Mikosh, Carter Crain, Colton Crain, Caroline Crain, and Sydney Carter; and special friend, Diana Feigenbaum. Evie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Leo Olivier.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 22, 2023, at St. Monica Catholic Church 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas, Father Michael Guadagnoli, Celebrant. A reception will follow.
Evie lived only 6 years, but they were days filled with joy. She told her mother just a few days ago that “Happiness comes and goes, but joy lasts forever.” We were all blessed to have this joyful soul in our lives. Evie was the light of our lives and to carry on Evie’s light, the family will be sponsoring a scholarship in memorial and requests that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, any memorial contributions be directed to the St. Monica Catholic School of Dallas in her name.
