Eugene was born, November 30, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana to parent’s Leamon and Elsie Hicks. Eugene leaves to cherish his legacy of love; his wife, Martha Ann Dale-Hicks whom he loved and adored for 58 years; and their five children: Cynthia Johnson (Stephen) –Dallas, TX, Angela Yvette Hicks-Crumb (James) - Herndon, VA, Teresa Nanette Hicks – Redfield, AR, DeWayne Earl Hicks, Sr.( Barbara), Dallas, TX, and Marc Anthony Hicks ( Misty), Lancaster, TX.
He was preceded in death by: Parents: Leamon and Elsie Hicks, Siblings: Elbert Hicks, Willie Dee Gates, Annette (James) Fountain, Mattie Pearl Linnear, Lee Dorothy Hicks and Benny Hicks. But he leaves to celebrate his life, LeRoy Hicks, Shreveport LA, Leamon (Deborah) Hicks, Detroit, MI, Isaiah Hicks, Detroit, MI, and brother-in-law, Charles Linnear, Denver, CO.
Eugene was also a beloved member of his wife’s family and from this family those who preceded him in death were: His mother-in-law, Lucinda Henderson, and her children Walter Henderson, Amy Hall and Vercy Clark.
Those left to remember their brother in law are Albert Henderson, Mercy Davis, Bertha Crear (Lester), Sylvia Ardiemease Moore, Bonnie R. Scott and Thelma Henderson.
He was a loving PaPa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he was absolutely proud to love: Kendra Tene’ Barron ( LaShawn and Blake; Darrius Eugene Hicks, TamYa N. Hicks, Eithan Sr,, Eihan Resse, Reniqua Jones, Lawyer Jones, DeWayne E. Hicks, Jr., Christian D. Hicks. He also has a SLEW of nieces and nephews; and bundles of adopted children whom he so dearly loved.
Eugene retired from the city of Dallas Landfill. He was a faithful servant and Deacon at the Oak Grove MBC in Dallas, TX. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. His smile was offered and his heart was warm, wise and compassionate. The bible says THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN are ordered by the Lord. You can ask just about anyone and they will tell you “Eugen e was indeed a GOOD MAN! “
