Emmanuelle, “God with us” Marie, “beloved, wished for child” Manasseh “God has made me to forget all my hardship and all the pain and sorrow of my father’s house.” Cooper
Emmanuelle Marie Manasseh Cooper, a name she picked out all on her own. A name she was born for. We could say it over and over and over again. Music to our lives. Our baby girl was beloved by us for ten whole months! She was cherished and longed for. She traveled to Philadelphia to announce her life to all her loved ones. We had a big party. She went to all her Daddy’s football games (even when Mommy was feeling sick) and she even went to some of his away games too. She traveled to Norman, OK, Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, and spent her first Christmas in chilly Boston, MA with Mommy and Daddy and had all kinds of adventures there. In the New Year, she moved houses and bought a first home with Mommy and Daddy. A house meant all for her.
She was strong. She gave Mommy so many good punches when she was big enough. She got some real good ones in. Her little legs didn’t move so good, but Mommy’s pretty sure she got a few good kicks in anyway. She stayed strong for her Mommy and Daddy. Even when we went through hard times, she was there–she stayed close to us.
Emmanuelle’s favorite books were “Make Way for Ducklings,” and “Old Bear.” She also came to love “I’ll Love You ‘Til the Cows Come Home.” She also loved her favorite TV shows played for her: Kipper the Dog and Old Bear. Her favorite thing of all though, was listening to her Daddy talk to her right up close to her head. She always knew it was him, because every time, he’d say “Hi Baby, it’s your Daddy!” Until she was born, we called her “Baby”. It was her nickname until we met her to know her name for sure. We prayed for her and stopped to feel every little punch and flutter. She was part of our family. She was our light, the love of our whole lives. She had a beautiful baby shower in March and went with Mommy to get her hair done and pick out a baby shower dress and shoes and put it all on Daddy’s credit card. She got so much love and special blankets, clothes and toys. She had such a big day.
On Emmanuelle's birthday, May 8th, 2024, her Daddy helped catch her right at 7:00 PM and got to find out if she was a boy or a girl. GIRL! She weighed a whole 4 pounds and 11.6 ounces and was 16.5 inches long. Daddy gave her to Mommy. We marveled over her, held her, stroked her beautiful hair, touched her perfect nose, kissed her lips. We were in awe. In love. Over the moon to finally see our precious daughter. We had time alone as a family, just the three of us. Holding each other, crying tears of love. After that, Emmanuelle got to meet her Gammy, Papa, Nonna and Pop Pop, and even her Godfather, Uncle Robbie. She was held and loved for hours. She had a beautiful Christening while everyone was together and the priest lifted her up to heaven and baptized her in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Emmanuelle is our first born, precious daughter. An image bearer of the King of the universe. She was all ours. Mommy would carry her 1,000 times just to know her, to behold her. We planned only for her life. We pictured her as our little girl, wheeling around our house, defying odds, exceeding expectations. We never considered her lost. We never truly mourned the idea of losing her. To us she was always abundant life. And she was. Our time with her was a gift from heaven. It could never be replaced and we wouldn’t trade anything for every second we had with our daughter. We will live our lives to seek first the Kingdom of God to get to heaven to see you soon baby girl. Mama and Daddy love you and miss you so much.
We ask our family and friends to honor Emmanuelle’s name with a donation of any amount to Extra to Love, a Texas-based Trisomy 13/18 organization that has given our family so much love over these last few weeks and the days following Emmanuelle’s joining the Lord.
