Quitman, Texas, and departed on September 29, 2024.
After her father passed and left her and her brother, Samuel Montgomery (who preceded her in death) fatherless at an early age, Noble McGee interceded as their step-father.
Ella and Samuel would often reminisce about growing up in East Texas, where they attended
schools in Quitman and Mineola, Texas. She was selected as salutatorian of her graduating class from Quitman Colored High School.
It was during her education that she met (and later married) Mackeroy Tuck before relocating to Dallas. Their union produced four children; one son, Mackeroy R. Tuck (who proceeded her in death), and three daughters, Ava Tuck, Vicki Tuck and Karla Tuck-Millender.
In her occupational endeavors, she enjoyed working for a brief period at Baylor Hospital in the Neonatal Unit, obtained employment throughout the years with various companies, and enjoyed the benefits of retirement in 1996.
Ella was a true servant of our Lord and taught her children to love the Lord as well. She was a
member of The Forest Avenue Christian Church, then Cedar Crest CME Cathedral where she worshipped and served on the Stewardess Board for many years.
She was a person who dearly enjoyed family and friends, beautiful flowers, watching her favorite sports teams, (the Cowboys and the Mavs) and her favorite game show, Wheel of Fortune.
Even though Ella did not crave to be the center of attention, plenty was poured upon her, due to her infectious personality which left a lasting impact on those who knew her, and she lovingly received it. She was a beautiful being that left an imprint upon us that will never fade.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that Ella’s legacy lives on through lessons she taught, and the love she shared. Her memory will be cherished forever.
Ella is survived by many who dearly loved her. Her children (listed above); son-in-law, Mike
Millender; grandchildren, Brandi Barnett and Tremaine Millender; cousins; extended family
members; and friends.
