Dorothy Jewell Taylor

Dorothy Jewell (Lewallen) Taylor was born in Delight, Arkansas on September 10, 1942 and went home to the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Known to many as “Dottie” or “Dot”, she was a loving daughter and sister, beloved wife, adoring mother and an undeniably remarkable human being. Regrets, she had none as her life was lived to the fullest extent - a testament to the mercy and grace of God. A single stranger was never known to Dorothy and her infectious smile and extreme love of life were her trademarks. While this brand featured a small physical stature, her unbreakable fortitude, God-given aptitude and extraordinarily positive attitude conveyed her amazing height. These attributes have become an inspiration to so many and will be her lasting legacy. Preceding Dorothy in death are her father and mother, Jewel Edward and Alma Louise (Cook) Lewallen; husband William David “Bill” Taylor of over four decades; both father and mother-in-law, Alonzo Benjamin “A.B.” and Wilma Maxine Taylor; sister June Carolyn Kilstrom; and brothers-in-law, W. M. “Red” Kilstrom and Harold Lee Wright. Dorothy is survived by son Andrew David “Andy” Taylor of Dallas; brother and sister Jimmie Lee Lewallen of Mesquite and Linda Ann Wright of Canton; and both brother and sister-in-law James Robert “J.R.” and Ann Taylor of Paris. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; dearest friends of nearly sixty-five years, Brenda and Jerry Pemberton; and so many other friends and acquaintances who touched her heart in some distinct manner throughout her life’s journey. The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 30, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon, in the Great Hall at Park Cities Baptist Church; Reverend Jeffrey W. Diffee officiating. Private interment service to occur at a later juncture at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery; Chancellor Dr. Gary Cook officiating.
